Around the league there are a bunch of RFAs without a contract.
Two of the biggest are Raymond and Seider.
Others are Seth Jarvis, Matt Beniers, Cole Sillanger, Thomas Harley, Dawson Mercer and Cole Perfetti.
So it's not exactly rare for these contract negotiations to drag out.
But at what point does the lack of contract start to bother you?
At what point do you start to get anxious about the Seider/Raymond deals

What the hell do they talk about? Term and amount and it doesn't seem more complicated than that. What could either side be waiting on?

It can be a bit more complicated then that. If it is a short bridge deal then the salary on the last season will be the difference in the qualifying offer the team has to make. If it takes him to a season before he can become a UFA, then he holds all the cards as he could just accept his qualifying offer and hit the UFA market after that season. Not something the team wants to deal with but i'm sure the players agents love this idea if they can't get a long term big money deal done now. There is also NMC and NTCs that could be sticking points although not as much as salary and term.
I'm not worried now although i would rather if they had already signed both. Once it gets close to training camp though, then i will start to have a problem with this. Players that miss training camp often struggle early to catch up. Imagining the Wings defense without Seider to start the season would be a nightmare and could take them out of the playoff picture pretty quick.

You know, if you're Carolina with Jarvis or Dallas with Harley, I get it. You're close to capped out.
I don't know what the hold up is with Yzerman.
Unless there's some potential move to be made for a RD out there.

Now is the time to worry, should be a lay up and no, no more over 30 players

Ekblad and Trouba are signed. Raymond and Seider are RFAs. Trouba is way overpaid and a UFA in two years. Ekblad in 2025. The situations and career status are apples and oranges vs. the Wings players.
