If they did want out, they might as well trade everyone on this roster and start over. This is probably Yzerman playing hardball with young players while he has no problem overpaying garbage UFAs that can't even do the job they are signed to do.holytoledo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 6:05 pmI really wonder if Seider & Raymond are wanting to GTFO and don’t want to commit any longer than they have to to be UFAs.Machine wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 5:51 pmYzerman should’ve had the RFAs locked up by nowhiramnicak wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 5:34 pm Minnesota just drove up Moritz Seider's contract, signing Brock Faber to an eight-year contract extension worth 8.5 AAV.

Seider and Raymond are part of the core at this point with Larkin and those are the players you sign long term. The rest are just depth guys or complimentary pieces. Hopefully some of the prospects can come in and prove they are core players because 3 players is not much of a core.

Nope and it’s pretty fucking sad that the best player on the team going into year 6 of the rebuild is Larkin.dcz28 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 3:41 pmIf they did want out, they might as well trade everyone on this roster and start over. At this point, i think Seider is as important to the team as Larkin. They lose either player to long term injury and the Wings are fucked. There is at least some hope with Danielson and Kasper not far off even though it remains to be seen if either can ever be top 6 centers to replace Larkin if he went down. If Seider goes down, who the hell is your top pair? What prospect can come in and possibly replace him. Edvinsson maybe but they have nothing else even close to being a top 4 let alone a top pair guy. I don't count ASP because he is at least 2 years away imo and not even playing in GR.holytoledo wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 10:24 pmNope and it’s pretty fucking sad that the best player on the team going into year 6 of the rebuild is Larkin.dcz28 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 3:41 pmIf they did want out, they might as well trade everyone on this roster and start over. Petry playing top pair scares me more than Compher or Copp playing on the 1st line to tbh. Neither are good but Petry playing top pair is worst without an elite goalie behind the team.

I agree on equal importance. I don’t think Seider has caught him as best player though, but both he and Raymond are not too far behind. I am not really considering Kane, I guess I probably should. Is he still better than Larkin at this stage in his career? That’s a tough one, but overall, I think not.dcz28 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 10:54 pmAt this point, i think Seider is as important to the team as Larkin. Offensively Kane is at the least equal i would say and maybe even a bit better. Defensively Kane sucks so it's not even close in that department so i would give the overall edge to Larkin for sure...plus Larkin is a center which is harder to replace than a winger.holytoledo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 7:57 amI agree on equal importance. Welp, the local High School hockey team just named Matt Niskanen their head coach. This will be fun to watch.. Drunk h9ckey parents arguing with a Stanley Cup winner over which 15 year old should start varsity.
