Holl playing 20 mins a night in Toronto is on the coach not the GM...same could be said about Holl being a healthy scratch in Detroit not that i'm saying he deserves to play a lot or that it was a good signing.

I mean Jeff fucking Petry average almost 19 min per game last season. That should not be happening unless you have major injuries to your top 4 defense yet here we are and he's likely going to see that kind of ice time again with the no improvements Yzerman did to this defense. He did try and get Trouba who refused to waive and ended putting the Wings on his no trade list but it was already too late for UFAs by that time.

Contract negotiations with UFAs begin before July 1st so if Yzerman was all in on getting Trouba and banking on that, all the top RHD UFAs likely had already decided where they were going by the time Yzerman realized he wasn't getting Trouba.

Drury should have known Trouba wanted nothing to do with a trade and would block it when he learned he was trying to trade him to Detroit when he asked him to waive his NMC and then to submit his list early of teams he could be traded to. Yzerman wasted his time with Drury and then was too late for UFA's...not to mention he made 2 trades to make room for Trouba that he didn't have to make.

Nope. I think that was one of the main reasons he was still on the board at 13.

Sabres need to bring up Kulich and Rosen. They've got Ostlund, Walberg, Helenius and more coming up front.
They've got sooo much young talent they can't develop it properly. So they trade the Savoie at a loss.

Also. Jason Zucker? That's fucked. What the fuck has Jason Zucker ever done but be a small, soft middle sixer who's got 9 goals in 52 playoff games? Never been past round since 2015.

Sabres also have another great prospect LD who emerged in Nikita Novikov.
He goes along with other Left shot D like Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson, Byram, Ryan Johnson.
What the fuck? Trade one of those for a RD? (I know Dahlin plays the Right side, but still).

Savoie is probably thrilled with the propsect of playing McDavid and Draisaitl and his older brother is in the Oilers' system.
Wings could have offered more

Why? A small, soft, squishy water bug? We have Danielson and Kasper that already project a better fit.

Small means nothing. The softest player in memory is 6' 190lb and is likely out of the league now because he still thinks he's a waterbug mega scorer in the Q.

He isn't soft and I think he is more likely to be a star center than either of them

Have to wait a couple of years to see who’s better
