009: C Frank Nazar
041: C David Goyette - I'm a sucker for the high IQ forwards early in the draft. I like his shot, too.
053: C Danny Zhilkin - Russian-born player already in Canada. Great skater
073: D Daniil O Ivanov - Large sized defenseman that plays well up and down the ice. Seems to see the play in slow motion
105: D Oskar Asplund - High IQ Swedish player that eats a ton of minutes for his team. I'd like to see him move up a level
111: RW Gavin Hayes - Another high IQ forward with great skating and puck skills, not much in his shot that I saw
128: RW Fabian Wagner - Great passer that makes smart decisions with the puck on offense
137: D Arseni Koromyslov - Large sized offensive defenseman with great instincts, feel like he is a steal this late
201: LW Theo Keilin - Good puck skills, smart, good positioning in the o-zone. Not a bad choice for late flyer
211: C Daniil Davidov - "Elite on faceoffs" and high IQ, per draftpro, I haven't seen any play and was just grabbing a center

Ive liked goyette as an under the radar guy for a while, but he's getting a lot of buzz lately.

I traded up pretty aggressively after winning the lottery and wound up with only three picks (random at 95%, team needs at 5%):

01: RC Shane Wright
30: LC Marco Kasper
47: LD Lian Bichsel

Centers (options): Larkin, Wright, Kasper, Veleno, Suter, Niederbach, Rasmussen, Fabbri
Left-handed defensemen: Edvinsson, Wallinder, Bichsel, Johansson, Buium, Walman, Oesterle, McIsaac, Viro, Sebrango

It seems to me we should be able to build a meaningful team around some combination of those pieces.

F1: Bertuzzi - Larkin - Raymond
F2: Vrana - Wright - Zadina/Berggren
F3: Rasmussen - Kasper - Soderblom
D1: Bichsel - Seider
D2: Edvinsson - Hronek
D3: Buium/Johansson - Wallinder
GT: Nedeljkovic - Cossa

A) Themed draft. I rearranged the list to better reflect where I could see them going due to health and political concerns, but these were the guys I picked:

009: RC Gleb Trikozov - skilled center that would go top five if he was Canadian.
041: LW Ivan Miroshnichenko - toolsy forward undergoing cancer treatment that was slated for the top ten prior to his diagnosis.
053: LW Kirill Dolzhenkov - huge, relentless forward. Give me my Dolzhenkov-Rasmussen-Soderblom-Edvinsson-Seider-Cossa line.
073: LD Vladimir Grudinin - undersized offensive defenseman who could be a productive powerplay specialist.
105: RC Ilya Rogovsky - sneaky, slippery bastard with great deceptive skills and soft hands. Stats are underwhelming, but he's fun to watch.
111: LD Daniil Orlov - smooth skater with decent size.
128: LD Alexander Pelevin - billed as a smooth skater with solid playmaking skills.
137: RD Vladislav Sapunov - interesting longshot
201: LW Semyon Sinyatkin - swiss army knife
211: GT Maxim Mayorov - i wanted a goalie, and he was the biggest Russian on the board.

B) Won second in the lottery and traded back with Ottawa to get an extra pick in the second:

005: LC Marco Kasper - a strong two-way center who plays with strong puck protection skills, awareness, and a vehement dose of tenacity.
036: LD Lian Bichsel - a hulking two-way LHD who plays with a physical edge, Bichsel is already a good shutdown defender.
041: LD Calle Odelius - an offensive defenseman who has shown he can hold his own against men in the SHL.
053: LC Filip Bystedt - albeit a bit of a raw prospect, Bystedt is a big, strong center with great hands.
073: LC Paul Ludwinski - a speedy, high motor, 5'11" center with good vision centering the third line of a stacked Kingston lineup.
105: GT Reid Dyck - big goaltender who has been impressive in tournaments.
111: LW Kirill Dozhenkov - a skilled giant with a similar profile to Elmer Soderblöm in his draft year. A real swing for the fences pick.
128: RW Petr Hauser - a power forward who is markedly tough to play against.
137: LW Mikey Milne - one of these over-agers that probably would've been drafted already sans COVID shutdowns.
201: LC Cedrick Guindon - a smart, undersized forward with got a great shot and some speed. Has to work on his compete level and defensive play.
211: LD Seamus Powell - a USNDTP defender who has fallen out of favor in rankings. He'll be playing at Boston College next year.

C) Gave FCHockey's simulator another go since they've updated their list some. I picked a ton of centers in part because their simulator basically chugs pretty straight through their top 100, and I wanted to grab guys on my list that were going to vanish into the ether. I didn't realize how skewed I drafted until after the fact:

009: LC Marco Kasper - a strong two-way center who plays with strong puck protection skills, awareness, and a vehement dose of tenacity.
041: RC Matthew Poitras - a CHL forward that I've seen ranked high but haven't watched.
053: LC Danny Zhilkin - toolsy forward who has played defense in a pinch and could be a steal. He has consistency issues to work through.
073: LW Kirill Dolzhenkov - a skilled giant with a similar profile to Elmer Soderblöm in his draft year. A real swing for the fences pick.
105: RC Liam Arnsby - aggressive, two-way, swiss army knife sort of high energy grinder.
112: LC Markus Vidicek - a great skater with lots of skill who will need to get stronger, improve his pace of play, and his consistency.
128: RD Sam Rinzel - an intriguing 6'4" offensive defenseman who lit it up in high school before joining the USHL. Buium or Tuomisto? I can't say.
137: LC Topi Ronni - two-way forward that plays a responsible game, works hard, etc. who is still learning to use his size effectively.
201: LC Ilya Kvochko - a flashy forward who finished the season scoring near the top of the MHL.
211: LD Elias Pettersson - a solid defense-first defensive prospect for the defense pipeline.
