In 2016-2017 Stevie gave Palat 5x5.3 in a similar. He had one 20 goal season to his credit and it was 3 years prior to when the deal was signed. In 2015-2016 Stevie gave Kilorn 4.55 mil for 7 years. Kilorn had never scored 20 goals and his career high in points was 40 at the time. Both of these deals came when the cap was significantly lower.
I'm guessing they end up settling much closer to 4 than the club's lowball offer. Not sure what Bert's ask is in term, but 4.25 seems like a pretty damn reasonable ask and 3.15 seems like a fuck you response. This aint Florida Stevie, your team sucks and there's a state income tax here. You might need to tune into reality a bit more here.

I think in a normal year, Bertuzzi would get what he's asking for, but with the flat cap and lingering questions about ticket sales next season or if there will even be a season, I think general managers have been told to be more conservative this year. Rumor has it the Wings are dealing with an internal cap, something Yzerman has alluded to a couple times. It could be a disagreement around term as well though...

I think in a normal year Bert would be asking for 5+. I wonder if the arbitrators are going to take into account the current state of affairs. I don't really get how it all works, but aren't the player's salaries tied to revenues anyway so if the league/teams take in dramatically less won't the salaries effectively be prorated?tarohirose wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 2:44 pm I think in a normal year, Bertuzzi would get what he's asking for, but with the flat cap and lingering questions about ticket sales next season or if there will even be a season, I think general managers have been told to be more conservative this year. Yeah, it's a pretty fucked up offer. Bert's got what 2 RFA years left? I'd think something more in the 5x5 range where we buy a few of his UFA years would make more sense. Bert would be 31 when that deal expires. Give him a full NMC for 4 years and if we're not contending by year 5 flip him at the deadline.

Ken Holland paid Athanasiou $3M a year with a lower cap and coming off a pretty weak 16 goal season, and for all his faults, Holland generally did well with contracts for younger guys.holytoledo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 3:23 pmYeah, it's a pretty fucked up offer. Yeah, I guess it must be due to financial constraints and maybe because of that, it's just a one year deal, but if I were Bert and I'm taking a lower salary that would be even more reason to ask for term. Do 3, 4, 5, 5 & 6 or something like that.Pop Zeus wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 4:17 pmKen Holland paid Athanasiou $3M a year with a lower cap and coming off a pretty weak 16 goal season, and for all his faults, Holland generally did well with contracts for younger guys.holytoledo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 3:23 pmYeah, it's a pretty fucked up offer.
