You want something wild....My Great Uncle's name is on the Stanley Cup 5 times, all while he was with the Wings.
That is super cool. Was he a player or part of the organization?
Carl Mattson, long time trainer in their golden era.

You know, everybody only ever thinks about players getting their names on the Cup, but so does the training staff and everybody else that's part of the team. I think it's just as cool that your great uncle, Carl Mattson, has his name on there for his contributions in keeping the players healthy and able to perform at a high level. But you said his name is on the Cup 5 times. From what I read on that link you shared, he's on there 7 times. 1936, 1937, 1943, 1950, 1952, 1954, and 1955. That's even better. And now, I just figured out where your username comes from. A combination of DELvecchio, HOWe, and MahovLICH.

Yeah, there is some differences in the history on Carl. He was an assistant trainer back then and I am not sure if they added the assistant til the 40's, because he is on the cup in "43 as an asst.

Carl Mattson
(Hancock/Pelkie)

A member of the Detroit Red Wings' Hall of Fame, Carl Mattson was the team's head trainer (1947-58) and assistant trainer (1935-47), retiring with the longest tenure in the team's history. He was also the visiting team's locker room attendant (1929-35). During his time tending to some of the NHL's top players, the Red Wings reached the Stanley Cup finals 13 times, winning seven titles. He died in 1985.
He retired to Baraga, where he lived til he died in '85. He was born in Hancock, the family farm was in Pelkie, and most of the Mattsons are buried there on a family plot. I never met him, but it is ironic that our paths crossed several times. My uncle on the other side of the family moved to Baraga and worked in the DNR garage that was just a few doors fraom Carl's residence. I only found out I was related to Carl in 2018.

Interesting, never knew somebody from up here was trainer with the Red Wings. I know some Mattsons around here, but I don't think they'd be related to the ones in Pelkie, maybe I'll ask if I remember.

Now that Norm's dead, it's probably safe to skip award shows and let others accept awards on your behalf.

I've been hacking away at this progression lately. Has a bit of a waltzy swagger to it (1 2 3 1 2 3). I finally sorted out what I want to do with the progression, and now... as interesting as the chord progression is, the tune feels pretty bland, and I can't place it.

The progression goes something like this:

e|-------------------------------------|-----------------------------|
b|-10-8-3-0-1-5-4-3-10-8-3-0-1-5-4-3-2-|-10-12-10-14-12-10-12-10-9-8-|
G|--7-5-1-----5-5-4--7-5-1-----5-5-4-3-|--9-11--9-11--9--8--9--8-8-9-|
D|--9-7-3-----7-6-5--9-7-3-----7-6-5-4-|-11-12-11-12-11-10-11-10-9-8-|
A|-------------------------------------|-----------------------------|
E|-------------------------------------|-----------------------------|

Any thoughts on it are appreciated. I'm feeling pretty deflated with this one. Maybe I just need to scrap it and move on to the next idea, but it feels like there's almost something there.

You're asking to play this and see if it reminds me of a song that already exists?
Throughout history, every old man said the same thing about the younger generation. And old men die, and the world keeps spinnin'.

No no no. It doesn't exist. At least, I don't think it does. I've just hit a wall with it and can't figure out why there's a wall there.

May I suggest listening to some Pink Floyd? Actually scratch that, bad idea.
