Slafkovsky is a winger. But anyway, between Wright, Cooley, Yurov, Lambert, and Savoie, there should be a pretty high caliber center available with the sixth pick.
I was thinking he was a winger too, but Button has him as a center.

“Slafkovsky is a strong two-way centre who plays well in all areas and has an imposing physical stature,” Button said. “Yurov is a powerful winger with excellent sense and skills. He’s very challenging to defend as he can beat you with his mind, his physical ability or his skill – all at the same time if necessary.”

I saw that, but I'm not sure where Button is getting that. Everything I've read indicates Yurov is centering a line in the KHL, and in the games I've seen Slafkovsky play, he's been on the wing. He's obviously the expert here, but I think he's wrong.

Wasn't there a rule change, so that a team cannot get the top lottery pick two years in a row? I hope?

"After a miserable season in which they came dead last in the NHL, the Buffalo Sabres got considerably worse in the offseason and look primed to repeat as the NHL’s worst team. They couldn’t even manage to do the one thing they needed to do in the offseason which was trade Jack Eichel. The Sabres total GAR change of -23.4 was worst in the Atlantic division and they’ll be nearly impossible to catch in the race for last in the division."

Rule change comes into effect starting this year (doesn’t include the 2021 draft), and it limits teams to two lottery wins per five years. Buffalo could still win the next two lotteries if they want to.

That is a travesty of a sham of a mockery.

I see he also has Slafkovsky as a center. Geekie seems to be rising up the charts. There may be some real hope for the Wings to get a top line center, even if they don't get Wright.

I caught that too. Between Button and McKenzie listing him as a center, I've updated my notes. Apparently, he has played center in national tournaments, so there's a valid argument for it. I'm curious to see who is pegged as a center and who isn't by the time the draft roles around, particularly Yurov, Miroshnichenko, Lambert, Savoie, and Slafkovsky.

That league is almost as good as high school hockey in Florida - almost.
