Seider this season:
Among D men with 60+ games
20th in hits per 60
18th in blocks per 60
16th in takeaways per 60
20th in fewest giveaways per 60
25th in points per game
Only Weegar has similar defensive stats and the scoring touch. However, Seider has more takeaways and fewer giveaways.
All that while facing the toughest minutes out of all D men -- 47% of his ice time is against elite competition.
Compare that to:
Pelech (45%)
Cernak (45%)
Matheson (43%)
Tanev (43%)
Dobson (43%)
Guhle (43%)
Hanifin (43%)
..
Makar (38%)
..
Weegar (36%)
Hedman (36%)
Once Edvinsson gets here full time and takes some of the defensive load off of Seider, he could explode for 60-70 points.
Seider

Cue Pop Zeus to come in with obscure stats to prove he’s one of the worst RHD in the NHL.

3.15 goals against average at 5 on 5 is middle of the road for Detroit and awful overall.WingFanInA2 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 7:58 pm Cue Pop Zeus to come in with obscure stats to prove he’s one of the worst RHD in the NHL.
45.6 CF% is middle of the road for Detroit and awful overall.
.92 points/60 is not bad, not good.
He got .95 in year 1 and .95 in year 2.
So it's what he is.
CF% of 45.6 is worse than last year (46.8) and the year before (46.9).
Goals against/60 is 3.15.
Again, a pretty awful 5 on 5 number.
It was 3.12 last year and 2.75 as a rookie.
At long last, his GA/60 has improved on the PP, from 10.8 and 10.7 to 7.3 - a big improvement.
His P/60 on the PP has improved with career highs in G/60, A/60 and P/60.
So at 5 on 5, his game is what it has been.
His special teams numbers have improved.

Getting a legitimate top pairing defenseman to play with Seider would make this team a lot better. Walman ain't it.

So give him 8 x $8.25M and keep him round for a while. He is Detroit's Hedman.Pop Zeus wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:53 pm3.15 goals against average at 5 on 5 is middle of the road for Detroit and awful overall.WingFanInA2 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 7:58 pm Cue Pop Zeus to come in with obscure stats to prove he’s one of the worst RHD in the NHL.

I don't think he's Hedman. But he's a core player.DelHowLich wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:49 pmSo give him 8 x $8.25M and keep him round for a while. Not saying Seider will definitely be a Hedman level potential hall of famer, but Hedman didn't break out offensively until his 8th NHL seasons with 70+ points; he was a 20-30 point player before that except for one 55 point season in between. He's never been a big point producer like Karlsson but his overall game is what sets him apart.
Seider has a lot of intangibles that a Hedman has and the offense is somewhat there since he's been a 40-50 point guys early in his career; there's definitely room to grow and refine his game.
