How does it look on CapFriendly?

FORWARDS (13)
Right Wing: Lucas Raymond ($6,000,000) - Daniel Sprong ($3,600,000) - Patrick Kane ($5,000,000) - Christian Fischer ($1,500,000) - Craig Smith ($1,000,000)
Centre: Dylan Larkin ($8,700,000) - Andrew Copp ($5,625,000) - J.T. Compher ($5,100,000) - Joseph Veleno ($1,600,000)
Left Wing: Robby Fabbri ($4,000,000) - Michael Rasmussen ($3,200,000) - Alex DeBrincat ($7,875,000) - Jonatan Berggren ($1,000,000)

I bought out Kostin, who doesn't seem like he's in the plans. Raymond gets $6M.
Berggren-Mazur-Soderblom battle it out for a spot. Berggren faces waivers if he doesn't make it.
Perron not signed. I try to chisel Kane back to $4M and Sprong back to $3.2 instead of $3.6M.

DEFENSE (7)
Right: Moritz Seider ($9,000,000) - Justin Holl ($3,400,000) - Olli Määttä ($3,000,000)
Left: Jake Walman ($3,400,000) - Ben Chiarot ($4,750,000) - Simon Edvinsson ($894,167) - Albert Johansson ($850,000)

Seider gets $9M
Petry bought out. On second thought, maybe Holl should be bought out. Only one year of Petry remaining anyway.

GOALTENDER (2)
Alex Lyon ($900,000) - Ville Husso ($4,750,000)
Same. Need a veteran/AHL/NHL 3rd stringer.

BUYOUTS (4)
Justin Abdelkader ($1,055,556) - Kailer Yamamoto ($533,334) - Klim Kostin ($166,667) - Jeff Petry ($1,593,750)
Can we have this many buyouts?

DETAILS
Roster Size: 22
Salary Cap: $88,500,000
Cap Hit: $88,493,474
Cap Space: $6,526
We're missing one guy here.

Meh.
Yzerplan. Max out the cap for a rebuilding team that's not that young and isn't very good.
It'll be tight.

If Sprong hits 45-50 again, he'll want 5M+.

One option is to buy out Fabbri. He's got only 1 year left, but a buyout will save around 3M. Put that money into Sprong, who's a more consistent scorer and is more durable.

I see Kane leaving, simply because he probably wants to win another cup. I think he's using Detroit as a springboard to pad his stats and land on a good team.

I think Kostin remains -- he's cheap.
Hope Fischer returns.
Berggren should be a full-timer.

That leaves two forward spots open. I think one will go to a cheap rookie. Either Kasper or Danielson.
The second one will be a UFA.

Good layout and work Pops. But you really need to work on that negative attitude you have for your "favorite" team. It sux!

I don't disagree with PZ, Yzerman has really not put us in a good spot going forward. The cap management has been awful and drafting beyond the first has not been impressive. I'll not dive into the debates about the first rounders at this point. You don't have to love everything the Wings do even if you love the team, they deserve a lot of criticism at this point.

The team has already gone farther than what was expected of them and I would bet that is what Chris Ilitch is pushing for. You can't put it all on Y, he has bosses too. I don't mind the criticism, but Pops has been particularly gloomy lately.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Chris said make the playoffs, I don't care about building the right way. But it does fall on Yzerman, and even if that was the edict, he's made some poor choices, like Holl.

His dad signed Miggy to a ridiculous contract and said he didn't care because he'd be dead by the end of it. Don't know how else to explain Y's poor management of the roster. Make playoffs ASAP.

After the recent losing streak:

UFA:
Perron - bring back. One of the few players that gives a shit and doesn't give up on plays.
Kane - release. Zero defense and not enough 5-on-5 impact on offense. I don't know if his east-west style works well with how Fester wants the team to play.
Sprong - release. Great shot... and that's it. Low IQ player who struggles against tougher opposition and defensive responsibilities.
Fischer - bring back. Good hustle, attacks the front of the net, decent on the PK.
Gostisbehere - release. PP specialist who struggles in the D zone. Will be replaced by Edvinsson.
Reimer - release. No need for an aging 3rd string goalie.

RFA:
Seider/Raymond - keep, no-brainer.
Berggren - try to trade. Decent in the offensive zone, but weak along the boards, no intensity, poor defensively. Had a chance to play with Raymond and seemed overwhelmed. Next season he'll probably be on the 4th line, and, if that's the case, try to package him for someone who can actually help this team.
Veleno - try to trade. Low IQ, has trouble finding his identity on this team. Doesn't embrace 4th line role, isn't good enough in a scoring role. Face-offs continue to be a problem, as is his play in the defensive zone. Hits are down, ice time is up. Like with Berggren, I'd like to package him for someone more useful.

Buyouts:
Holl - I'd rather suffer one more year of Petry than two more years of Holl.

Next Year:

DeBrincat - Larkin - Raymond
Rasmussen - Copp - Fischer
new player - Compher - Perron
Fabbri - new player - new player

Seider - Chiarot
Maatta - Edvinsson
Petry - Walman

Kaper/Danielson/Mazur all possibles at F.

Sprong - gone
Gost- gone

Soderblom - Back to Sweden
Walman - Trade

Fabbri Larkin Raymond
Debrincat Compher Kane
Rasmussen Copp Fischer
Kasper Veleno Mazur

Gonna be a rough year
But that's what happens when you draft a billion D and never play them.
Eventually, they gotta play and it's gonna be tough.

Can't see them trading Walman. He will be our only bargain D contract next year. It would be fine if to bring in a better LD like Werenski (pipe dream) or a 2nd pairing RD.
