Looks like a contract dump to me.

Simek is UFA. Kostin had one more season and failed to deliver on all counts. It was either a trade or waivers for him.

He's been in the AHL all year, so I assume they're adding depth for a Grand Rapids run. This has to precipitate a logjam release in Detroit.

Still get a feeling that Y is sniffing around for a better goalie. If he doesn't get one now than definitely this summer!

Don't think Yzerman is bringing in anyone today. All that is left is turds and no point in trading for a turd unless you give one back. Just because the turd is the nicer one of the pile, it's not worth trading for it...it's still just a turd. He only brings someone in if it's a good upgrade that can play for a few years at least, not a rental unless Holl is going the other way just to get rid of his contract.

I think Yzerman will need to buff that Holl turd with a prospect or pick in the summer to flush it down to another team.
