For as rotten as Cossa looked so far he is just the opposite tonite…..pitching a shutout. Burgers and Eddy looking good.

He gave up two near the end. Neither were bad goals. Faced over 40 shots. Griffs win again 5-2.

The stream was awful. Lots of hiccups, it would speed up then slow down. If they offer a promotion I'll consider being a customer.

I heard on the broadcast last night McIssiac is hurt.

The Detroit Red Wings on Sunday recalled center Austin Czarnik from the Grand Rapids Griffins and reassigned left wing Zach Aston-Reese to the Griffins.

Czarnik has gotten off to a fast start, as he has scored a goal in the first two games of the campaign with a total of three points (2-1—3).

Love it! Has Edvinsson always been this gritty?

At first I thought the guy was trying to draw the penalty. But watching more, it is more likely he didn't expect Eddy's reaction and just ended up being rag dolled. I think he's gotten much stronger and practically invites a scrap. He ain't a Sedin, he's a dog!

Watched the final 2 periods in tonight's game vs Cleveland. Griffins lost in a shootout after scoring the tying goal with less than a second on the clock.

A few notes from what I saw:

The Mazur/Lombardi/Soderblom line was the best forward line for the Griffins. They had several shifts where they controlled play in the O-zone for extended stretches, they moved the puck really well, and Lombardi and Soderblom both assisted on Edvinsson's goal. Mazur also rang one off the post in OT after a nice give-and-go play with Edvinsson. Only real negative I noticed was Lombardi seemed to get knocked off his feet quite easily several times.

Edvinsson had a solid game. Scored his goal from a sharp angle, squeezing the puck through on the short side. He was involved in several other nice plays that led to scoring chances (including the aforementioned Mazur chance in OT) and played a steady defensive game as well.

Berggren didn't play a whole lot in the 2nd period as the Griffins were partaking in a parade to the penalty box with 5 penalties in the period. During the 3rd he was more involved, but he seemed to be passing up scoring opportunities... there are two specific times I can think of when he passed the puck instead of taking an open shot, both of which led to no shot at all on the plays. He did have a beautiful deke move in the shootout that had the goalie completely lost but somehow he made a miraculous save throwing his leg up behind him at the last second.

Cossa didn't look that strong tonight. He repeatedly got caught too far out of his crease and had to scramble to get back. The two PP goals he gave up he probably wanted back... specifically the second one where he failed to hug the post on a shot from the outside of the circle that beat him short side. He also had a brutal turnover behind his net in OT that would have turned into an open-net scoring chance if it wasn't for the play of his D-man.

Wallinder looked really good. He's so smooth carrying the puck up ice, he's constantly pushing the play, and he made several top-notch defensive plays to break up scoring opportunities.

Kasper was invisible. In fact, I didn't even realize he was playing for the longest time. Finally in the third he had a nice scoring chance off a sweet give-and-go play with Hanas but that was really it from him.

I didn't notice Hanas all that much either, except for the give-and-go with Kasper and a glorious breakaway he had late in the 3rd period in which he failed to get the goalie moving with his deke and got shut down.

Johannson didn't play due to injury. Viro was a healthy scratch. I can't say I paid that much attention to McIsaac.

That about does it for the prospects.

On the other side of the puck, Chinakhov looked fantastic scoring two goals plus another in the shootout.

I have concerns about Cossa and Kasper. McIssaac seems to be a lost cause. Lombardi is a light weight, but what a playmaker! Mazur is intriguing. Eddy is a stud!! He should be up soon! Please make a trade to free Eddy!!

The Griffs schedule has been seriously Fubared to begin the season. Six back-to-back games separated each by a week. Can't be good for development/continuity.
