Just curious as to where Karlsson would land. It is said that SJ's asking price is equivalent to 3-1sts and they retain 18% of his salary.

I copied and pasted DevilShark's assessment of comparables to Erik's value:

"I dunno what the ask is per se but lets be logical instead of whatever you are being:

– Retaining 18% means he carries a 9.43m contract.
– He’s a top 6 scorer in the league.
– He’s miles ahead of every other Dman.
– 2 time Norris winner and a shoe in at this point to be 3 time.

Now let’s put up some comparables on the current points tables and their contracts:

– Matt Tkachuk (52 – $9.5m 7 seasons)
– Kyle Connor (53 – $7.1m 3 years)
– Erik Karlsson (56 – $9.4m 4 years)
– Tage Thompson (57 – $7.1m 7 years (great risk by Buffalo)
– David Pastrnak (58 – $6.7m – UFA about to get 8 figures)
– Jason Robertson (60 – $7.75m 3 seasons (was RFA signed bridge))
– Nikita Kucherov (61 – $9.5m 4 seasons)

All I ask is, it is crazy to think anyone on this list wouldn’t need to get 3 1st rounders to acquire? The price sounds right to me. Substitute as you like – 2 firsts and a top prospect, 1 first, 1 top prospect and a couple of roster players etc – the price is in no way a dream at a contract cost of 9.5m."

As you can see, he did a magnificent breakdown on a value for Karlsson. Now who get's him and for what???

Detroit? Hornik, 2024 1st, Kubalik, Blues 2nd I think Kuby and a 2nd would be equal to a 1st and helping to reduce the logjam at forward.
I doubt that Stevie makes a move for Karlsson, and would he come to Detroit? But, it is a fun exercise...

Absolutely zero reason for Detroit to be in on him. He’s 32 and has 4 more years on his current deal. Someone trying to win in the next year or two would have a to bite. Problem is none of them will have the cap space. End of the day, I doubt he moves in the next year.

Classic Ken Holland acquisition. He wouldn’t shy from dropping three firsts for an aging hall of famer. Also, I’d love to see him with McDavid.

Nice comeback for Erik Karlsson, but Jesus.
The Sharks have been dead in the water since acquiring him.
They had that one good playoff run and haven't been back since.
Go out and trade for this guy and you're signing a death warrant.

Barrie, Puljujärvi, !st, 2nd (different year) SJ would want Bouchard though, and Pull-toy might require a sweetener.....

SJ asked for three firsts. Kenny would probably just give them that.

Was thinking kinda the same about Nurse. I don’t think it’s take much more than Nurse - definitely not Nurse & 3 firsts.
