5 goals last night

Check out this career progression
20 - 41 games 3-6-9
21 - 65 games 7-5-12
22 - 1 game 0-0-0
23 - 38 games 8-6-14
24 - 78 games 38-30-68
25 - 26 games 21-19-40

He's on pace for like 65 goals and 120 points.

At one time, that Ryan O'Rielly for Thompson + picks, Berglund and Sobotka looked like one of the worst trades a team could make.
Now it's looking like that Iginla-for-Niewendyke, win-win deal.

Here’s hoping Rasmussen is on this career path.

Thompson had a big multi point game vs the Wings a couple of weeks back in Buffalo.

I thought Buffalo was crazy to sign this guy to a 7 year 50 million contract after just one good season. He seems to be proving me wrong and Buffalo is looking smart having him locked up long term for just 7.1 mil a year.

It's interesting that Buffalo is only 12-13-1.

Players with 10 or more goals:

Detroit:
- Kubalik (10)

Buffalo:
- Thompson (21)
- Tuch (13)
- Skinner (12)
- Olofsson (11)
- Cozens (10)

Players with 20 or more points:

Detroit:
- Larkin (26)
- Kubalik (25)
- Hronek (24)
- Perron (20)

Buffalo:
- Thompson (40)
- Dahlin (32)
- Skinner (31)
- Tuch (28)
- Cozens (27)

Either we had an easier schedule or Fester's defensive structure is actually working.

Goaltending and lack of veteran D.
Craig Anderson is Buffalo's Ace. He's 41.

Their young D - Dahlin, Samuelsson, Power - is awesome. But their top 4 D in icetime are all 23 and under (Jokiharju).

So this team has a propensity for getting rattled - especially by bad goals.

I've never watched him play. What does he do well? Is he a center or a winger? Is he good at carrying the puck up the ice? Good shot? Good distributor? Good at hanging on to the puck? Does Detroit need to send Rasmussen to the Tage Thompson school of hockey?

He’s a winger with 100 mph shot and size. He’s basically what we hope Soderblom develops into. He’s got size, never really played that physical but knows how to use us his size and wing span to protect the puck. Not a great skater but between his size and stick handling skills, he can possess the puck, carry it through traffic and he’s got a great shot with a quick and accurate release. He’s everything E would have been if we’d moved him to wing. :)
