That’s a fair argument. For the 2022 draft, those 25-32 picks aren’t that exciting. I wouldn’t be surprised if 2023 produced a handful of high level players into the second round, but if we can get a handful of blue chip prospects, that’s a better game plan.Pop Zeus wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 2:25 am I don't want two firsts...
Randomly, let's just say 25th overall this year and 26th overall next year.
Let's see what that looked like in 2010 and 2011.
2010 - 25th - Quinton Howden.
2011 - 26th - Philip Danault.
I like me some Danault, but he didn't do much for his draft team - the Blackhawks.
Lets say 22nd and 20th.
Let's do 2008 and 09
08 22nd - Eberle
09 20th - Jacob Josefson
If we trade Larkin - I want prospects/young players who've already cleared hurdles and remained bluechippers.
Same with Bert - though the haul won't be so good.
I like the idea of trying to pry Byram and Newhook loose, though I’m nervous about Byram’s health now. I don’t know that there are too many blue chip prospects around the league on teams going for the prize. I mean, maybe the Kings, but I don’t see them making any moves that big. Then there’s the Panthers, who are going to prioritize getting Giordano over Bertuzzi at this point.
Those are the only three teams in the buyer’s market with pieces I’d consider trading Larkin or Bertuzzi for off the top of my head.
