Re: Wings not qualifying Svechnikov
It’s really hard to say, he’s always had a rep of being a hard worker, having a good attitude and highly coachable. So I don’t really think getting waived was some kind of wakeup call for him. He’s playing with better players and in different systems and maybe he’s better suited for that. No way I don’t think it was an error to not bring him back as an RFA for one more year given his history and where we gave opportunity instead. We’re pretty well stocked at wing though and unless he’s the next Mike Knuble we’ll never really miss him.Wizard of Corsica wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 10:14 amI admit I am surprised he stuck. But he's getting the same shot in Winnipeg that he would have got in Detroit. And like in Detroit he's baaarely holding on.holytoledo wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 12:22 am Nice little write up on Chevy here…

It’s ok guys, we have Carter Rowney and we had Bobby Ryan in on a PTO? Who needs our former first round pick to get a shot?
Even if he sticks on the Jets fourth line, this is the best for everybody.

Re: Wings not qualifying Svechnikov
Svech should have been playing last year instead of Brome or Ryan.
Whatever.
Another log on the fire.

Re: Wings not qualifying Svechnikov
So wait, there’s crying over a guy that DIDN’T pan out here and is a 4th liner if he plays for the big club in Winnipeg?
Cholowski got waived too!
Both are guys that didn’t pan out anywhere. It happens. It happens in every sport every year. The wings didn’t fumble these guy’s development. They just didn’t and don’t have it.

Well, Svechnikov lasted longer than this guy, who was drafted 4th overall in 1976.

According to his agent, he was playing hurt again this last season. Here's the quote that I posted earlier in this thread:
“…he’s had a lot of injuries. He could have gotten a new opportunity last season. He played hurt. It didn’t happen.”
