Normally i'm not a big fan of trading up in the top 10 of the draft but this time they need to do it if they are not in position to get one of those guys. They need to address that top center position if they ever want to get the team out of the bottom 10 of the league.
There are 4 center prospects in the next 2 drafts that are more highly regarded than any since Matthews. If we can land one of them we should be on our way to contending for a Cup.

Watched Lambert play this morning, and I was a bit underwhelmed. I thought Kemell outperformed him by quite some margin. Neither had any points, and it’s only one game, but I was surprised at how much better Kemell looked.

Craig Button’s new list dropped. I’d probably rank Kemell and Yurov a couple slots higher at this point, but it’s an interesting list.

If we don’t land Wright or Cooley somehow Larkin’s gonna be 30 by the time we get a 1C.

Slafkovsky looks like a viable option for a number 1 center, also.

Slafkovsky is a winger. But anyway, between Wright, Cooley, Yurov, Lambert, and Savoie, there should be a pretty high caliber center available with the sixth pick.

You think any of them after Wright & Cooley project to be better than Larkin though?

Probably depends on which Larkin. The potential is there. Barzal was drafted pretty late, and he’s a hell of a player.

I think the average draft produces 2-3 players who will fill that 1C role, and this draft is deeper at the position than the past couple drafts have been, so I don't think it's a lofty ask to get 3-4 of those guys out of this draft. Obviously, playing 1C doesn't make anyone an all-star in a league with 32 teams, but there's no reason to think we can't pick one up next year. The trick is identifying the player.

After Wright and Cooley, my money is on Yurov, but it’s a bit early for me to make that sort of call, given how little I’ve seen of these guys.
