Red Wings defenseman Jeff Petry has been added to USA Hockey’s roster for the 2024 IIHF World Championship, reports NHL Network’s Jon Morosi. The initial roster of 15 skaters, announced earlier this week, includes Red Wings teammates Dylan Larkin at center and Alex Lyon in goal. Petry, a right-shot, projects to serve third-pairing duties for now behind Seth Jones and Zach Werenski. He’s a candidate to be moved down the depth chart as the tournament progresses as players on teams eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs join their national teams partway through.

Washington is the first team to get bounced. OV didn't even register a point. He needs 41 to tie Gretzky's record. He scored 31 goals in 79 games this year after only scoring 8 in his first 43. He will be a year older and without a good playmaker on the team it is doubtful he can maintain the 50+ goal pace he scored at for 36 games in the second half of the season but he only needs 41 and even though he has always been very durable, it is likely that he will miss some games. If any of the line online betting sites give 4-1 or better on him doing it next year, I will place a wager.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have not been asked for permission, nor have they granted permission, for the New Jersey Devils to speak to head coach Mike Sullivan, Penguins president of hockey operations and general manager Kyle Dubas said Tuesday.
“There have been no requests and no permissions granted,” Dubas said in a text message to The Athletic.
A Devils source said New Jersey would have interest in Sullivan if he wasn’t under contract with the Penguins.
