Justin Holl was a shit signing, but wtf is going on?

This guy who played 20 minutes+ a night with an actual playoff team can't be a regular on this fucking shitsquad?
1) He's 6'4.
2) He's righthanded.

Let's look our defense.

Holl ranks 3rd in CF% behind Matta and Gost
Holl ranks 1st in goalfor/60 with 3.19.
Holl ranks sixth in goals against/60 at 2.48. Only Matta is better.
He is sheltered with the highest Ozone starts/60 (8.51%)

Offensively, he adds nothing to the mix with the lowest points/60 on the team. Walman, surprisingly, is second worst.

He's not good. But he is basically what was expected. An overpaid, veteran RHD to play minutes while we keep developing.
And people act like this guy is awful - and taking big minutes away from better players.

The simple fact is, we have 3 RHD.
Seider. Holl. Petry.
We could buy them out, but why? This team is going nowhere next year and we really don't have any RHD on the way.
Maybe we get lucky and Petry retires.

We've know for several years that ALL of our top defensive prospects are LHDs.
Edvinsson. Johansson. Wallinder. Maybe even Viro.
And somehow, we go into this year with 4 veteran LHD and 5 prospect LHD.

This is an example of poor management by Yzerman.
The AHL should be a runway to the NHL for our prospects. Instead it's like a storage closet.

The miss on Tuomisto hurts, but maybe he still has a shot as a bottom pairing guy. Not sure how he’s being deployed in GR, but when Wallinder was drafted he supposedly preferred to play RD. Gibson could be something. Then of course, there’s ASP. I think you’re right though, none of these guys are a year away. Hard to believe we took Cleveland at 47 with Dragovicec & Brustawhatver and some of the other RDs still on the board. We probably could have gotten Cleveland at 117.
