Such an odd final few seconds....no one caught the goal at first and no one caught the too many men on the ice for the Avs. Clearly too many men. BTW for all the discussion we've had about Red Wing broadcasters sucking.....Ray Ferraro shouts pretty much all the time and Emily Kaplan is the biggest talking head airhead on the sidelines. 'You scored a goal....how did you do that?' Among others. Sean McDonough is a droning monotone. Cheli and Messier.....meh. I haven't been impressed by the ESPN/ABC production. The TNT group is better IMO.

Lightning strikes in Denver. Ondrej Palat scores the winner with about 6 minutes left in the game and TB still lives another day. And this time, Colorado gets caught with too many men on the ice.

Listen, and understand. That The Lightning are out there. They can't be bargained with. They can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And they absolutely will not stop, ever, until Colorado is dead.

Avs win it in 6 games, 2-1. They pretty much had Tampa all tied up most of the game. Tampa would get a scoring chance, but only get one shot off and the Avs would not let them have a second one. Finally in the 3rd, Avs had Tampa tied up for the entire 20 minutes. Makar wins the Conn Smythe.

Tampa's passing was atrocious. The amount of unforced turnovers by TB in this series was ridiculous. What happened to Killhorn?

Saw this meme on Facebook someone posted. It shows the Avalanche and Red Wing banners side by side with the years they won the Cup, 1996, 2001, and 2022. the 96 and 01 years were highlighted with an arrow pointing to the Wings banner and the years 1997 and 2002 highlighted, indicating when the Avs won the Cup, the Wings won the following year. Far fetched, yes. But also wishful thinking.

Back then the Wings and Avs were both top cup contenders...not the case for the Wings right now. Ned would have to play like Hasek in his prime, Edvinsson would have to come in a play as good as Seider did this season, bunch of guys would need to have career years, Yzerman would have to sign or trade for a solid 2nd line center (unless Suter or Veleno had a Kadri type year) and everyone would have to stay healthy for the majority of the season and playoffs. Way too many things would have to go perfectly right for that to happen.

Honestly, if they can just find a 2nd line center, and the defense plays well we could be looking at turning the corner on the rebuild.

Bert - Larkin- Raymond
Zadina - 2nd line center we've needed for almost 2 decades now - Vrana

Seider SE
Hronek ???(maybe resign Troy Stretcher?)
Lindstrom - Staal

fill out your remaining lines with prospects and vets that we got on the team, hopefully Vrana can bring some of that chemistry back with Zadina, is it a cup winner, no but in the next couple of years it could be if you draft properly. With Seider and Raymond and now Edvinsson all looking like steals in their draft I trust Stevie to get it done.
