Kakko is a really interesting option for the Wings. His development in New York has kind of stalled, but he is still only 21 years old. I don't think I would trade a first rounder and Zadina for him, but I would definitely swap Zadina for Kakko.

Another garbage overrated played from Liiga.

2019 Kakko
2018 Kotkaniemi
2017 Heskanein
2016 Laine, Puljujarvi & Juolevi

4 out of 6 of the last top 5 picks from Liiga are busts or disappointments at best. That’s a pretty shitty record. I’d be extremely hesitant to use a top 10 pick on a player from that league. Still would have loved to have taken a shot at Raty in the second round of last year’s draft, but I’m just extremely pessimistic about that league. Really there’s even a case to file Laine in the disappointment category.

I guess he's injured often but he's like a .7ish PPG player? wouldn't call that a disappointment

Definitely would not add a pick to that trade.

Zadina for Kakko straight up might be interesting. Both have the same production per 60 minutes. Both have played roughly the same number of games. So, you're essentially trading one failed sniper for another.

My main concern would be "better the devil you know" type of thing. Zadina isn't a scorer, but one cannot criticize his work ethic. Kid tries and plays (relatively) hard.

I haven't watched enough of Kakko to say the same. If he isn't a worker, than simply trading one player who doesn't produce for another would be a weak trade of us.

I would throw Heiskanen in that category also. He was picked high and not all-world but is definitely a good D man.

its all on how you define disappoitnment. I mean he's a top 5 player from the first round of that draft, but you look at who was taken around him...he's clearly the worst of those 5.

Kakko has 58 points in 157 games and Zadina has 61 in 160 but Kakko is a year younger

D men take longer. I would expect that if Klingberg moves on Heiskanen's #''s are going to go up considerably. He's a top 4 d-man and 2017 was a pretty shitty draft. Obviously in hindsight though, they'd rather have Makar, so that would make Heiskanen a pretty big disappointment from a comparison standpoint.
