Just Say No to David Reinbacher
I keep seeing the advocacy for taking RD David Reinbacher.
He looks like Moritz Seider, without the size and physical play.
That's still a pretty good defenseman, but come on, fellas.
At some point, we need the kind of goal scoring skill that wins games.

Re: Just Say No to David Reinbacher
I’d rather not pick him at 9 and if take a big swing at a D there would rather see ASP or even Wallinder if we go that early.
Really want Moore or Dvorsky at 9 and am starting to really like Wood as well. I like Reinbacher a lot and think he could be a very good 2-3 down the road, but I’d rather swing high for top 6 forwards and maybe take 2 shots at RD with our 2nds and even 73.

Re: Just Say No to David Reinbacher
If Dvorsky and Moore are gone, take Reinbacher at #9
Take Honzac or Danielson at 17
Take BPA C or D at 41 and 42 and another forward if you have 2 D already.

I like Honzek. The criticism is that he plays a perimeter game. He's tall and not very filled in but he's just a kid and he can handle the puck and skate. I can see a NHL developmental path vs someone like But who I don't think has a transferable game. But will bust.

Starting to not be so high on Dvorsky. He’s feeling more like a good middle sixer than a guy that will challenge Larkin for the 1C role. Of all the guys we have a shot at, I think Moore is the most likely to be elite. Barlow is maybe the next most likely.
Read a Pronman piece yesterday about the 2018 draft that was pretty interesting too. He broke down all the D that were picked in that draft. A lot of smaller, potentially elite puck moving D that went in the first, many before Miller, Bouchard and Dobson who are all 6’3” or taller. Those 3 have thrived, while out of all the smaller D - Hughes, Boqvist, Sandin, Smith and a few others, only Hughes has turned into a truly valuable NHL player.

At 17, sure.
At 9?
I'll take Daniil But if all the big names are gone.

He's got a great shot but I don't see what Dvorsky does so well beyond that. He doesn't skate well enough to be a high end C IMO. I wouldn't pick him with either #1's. Barlow seems to have a great package of skating, shooting and size.holytoledo wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 7:49 am Starting to not be so high on Dvorsky. Yeah, I feel like Barlow is a really safe bet to be a 25-25-50 guy and could be a 35-40 goal guy in his prime.DocBrown wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 1:47 pmHe's got a great shot but I don't see what Dvorsky does so well beyond that. I really like Pops assessment of Moore though. AA with hockey sense, a better work ethic and a 200 foot game.
