Okposo - terribly overpaid all these years, returns to the Sabres for 1x$2.5M.
Still a pretty decent veteran forward to have around.
Sabres still have 4 more years of paying Skinner $9M. Jesus.
At least he's putting up good numbers again, but this is a dude that hasn't been worth $9M for one day of his contract.
Okposo signs with Sabres

Re: Okposo signs with Sabres
Sabres are a great example of what not to do, to build a contender. They were overly aggressive in free agency with several players and it really screwed up their cap They have several young players coming up for contracts in the next 4 years and that Skinner contract will hurt.
This is why I am hoping Yzerman stays away from Tarasenko, Kane, O'Reilly, unless they come at a bargain.
What I like about the Sabres is how they lock their best players like Thompson and Cozens long-term. There is risk in that, but also good reward. It will make the Skinner contract hurt less, if these guys continue to improve and become established stars.

Reporter: "What's your favorite memory of that rivalry with the Avalanche?"

I thought the Skinner deal was bad from day 1, but it has aged a bit better than I expected and the cap is rising again. He’s got 3 years left on it. It’s not ideal, but it seems to be turning out to be more manageable than I expected. Dahlin’s contract is going to be critical to their cap structure going forward.cska91 wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 9:55 am Sabres are a great example of what not to do, to build a contender. They buy up the 20s - not the 30s.
