Think Y is about done with the sucking business. He's loaded up the past couple years now a couple of those draft choices beyond the first round need to develop into something beyond just regular roster players.

1.21 gigawatts! 1.21 gigawatts. Great Scott!

All it would take is an injury to Larkin and this team falls into the bottom 5, perhaps.

1st - player that the Wings wont get
2nd - another non-Wings draftee
3rd - you get my point.
they'll be drafting after the 10th draft pick. Maybe JUST MAYBE, the wings finish 9th and get some lottery luck. That being said, Bettman will never allow the wings to draft first.

Sadly, i actually might believe that bit about Bettman never letting The Wings draft first 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

No, the Wings are not quite '98 when Federov takes practically the entire season off, he comes back in time for the playoffs and the Wings win the Cup.

I'm the last one to believe conspiracy theories, but the wings maintained their domination in the late 90s and early 2000s with high priced FAs, then bettman lost a season because he needed a cap, which was partially due to the wings, then the wings were the first team to sign long contracts to kinda mitigate the cap or navigate around it, which bleed out to other teams, which cause a partial season loss to get that under control, now they're bad and I'm convinced he wants to keep them there. It doesn't matter to him if detroit has a strong franchise because the base will show up most nights.

i get your point, but at the same time, i had Edvinsson 2nd on my board going into the 2021 draft and Kasper 3rd in the 2022 draft. i was way off the mark with Raymond though, and that's the highest we've picked (would've taken Sanderson, but i allowed one comment from one anonymous nhl scout to get into my head).

I understand what you mean. Shane Wright fell to fourth and Seattle may turn out to have been the biggest winners in the draft long term. Maybe Michkov falls to wherever the Wings are picking and turns out to be better than the last guy who fell from that spot to the Wings (Zadina).

Neither of two is falling from 1-2 during the year or the draft. They both are future superstars. The only reason Bedard is ranked higher is because he is a center.

That being said I can’t wait to see what this team has to offer

Center is considered a more important position but i also think size has something to do with it also. Both are short but Bedard is listed at 5'9, 181 pounds while Michkov at 5'10, 159 pounds. That also plays into it. If Michkov was Ovechkin size, he would be rated 1st. Russian factor might also play into it a bit. Rankings could change if Michkov outshines Bedard at the WJC in August or December (assuming they have it on time in Dec/Jan).

Personally i think Bedard is slightly better but that's just me. It was only two games before they cancelled the WJC but Bedard looked much better than Shane wright in those two games. That might have played a role in Shane Wright dropping a bit in the draft too. The fact a younger, smaller Bedard could outproduce a bigger older Wright both in the WJC and CHL. Before last season, Wright was still looked as a generational player like a Crosby or McDavid but that changed last season although Wright did lose a full season of playing due to the OHL not playing for a season.

Bottom line is if either of them struggle this season or don't put up top numbers, either of them could fall in the draft unless nobody else rated behind them really has a great season. Fantilli for example is 6'3, 192 pound center. If he lights it up this season and one of the others doesn't, i could see him overtaking one of them in the rankings. I mean does Montreal pass on Shane Wright if Slafkovsky is 5'9, 165 pounds instead of 6'4, 230 pounds? Not likely although Cooley might have gone 1st overall in that case but i still think Montreal would have gone with Wright. Size still does matter in the NHL, maybe not as much as it use to but it still does.
