Guy from Dobber Prospects giving his top 10 rank of the 2023 draft along with who he thinks teams will pick in the top 10. He has Moore ranked 9th and also the Wings taking him at 9th. He does have some players in his top 10 that you don't see others saying are top 10 talent.

Corey Pronman & Scott Wheeler (The Athletic) mock the first two rounds. Detroit selects Zach Benson (9), Colby Barlow (17), Hunter Brzustewicz (41), Anton Wahlberg (42), and Theo Lindstein (43).

Re: 2023 NHL Entry Draft
Okay, realistically I would not be unhappy with this result for our first five picks. Three fowards, two defensemen. I might be a little concerned about Colby Barlow growing up to lead a grind line as his ceiling, but this is exactly why I hope we don't trade anything in the first and second rounds.hiramnicak wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 11:40 am Corey Pronman & Scott Wheeler (The Athletic) mock the first two rounds. (that said, I hope we have a shot at swinging for a homerun... whether that's Michkov, Dvorsky, But, Honzek, and similar. I still am dreaming that we will find Calum Ritchie sitting there at 17 to grow into our penalty-killing 2nd line center).

Re: 2023 NHL Entry Draft
There are so many guys that I’d be happy with at 9.
I think it will be one of Moore, Dvorsky, Leonard, ASP, Reinbacher or Willander. I think Moore & Leonard have the best odds of becoming elite out of that group. I’d be thrilled if Michkov falls that far.
If the org thinks Honzek, But or Wood or someone else is BPA so be it.
17 is more interesting. I still think there are gonna be a lot of players with huge upside available there. At that point everyone left is gonna have some flaws.
40, 41 and 42 are what really concern me. This is a super deep draft and there are guys projected well into the 30s that would be first rounders, but it really starts to drop off around 40. Obviously some of them will fall. I’d really like to hit on our first 5 picks this year. Hopefully there’s no Tuomistos, Mastrosimones or James taken there.

Re: 2023 NHL Entry Draft
I feel the opposite...
At 9, I worry we will be forced to take a prospect with obvious flaws.
At 17, my expectations are lowered.
At 41-43, they're lowered even more.
Doing mocks, I always feel better about the value of my picks at 17 and 41-43 than I do at 9.
When HP comes out, we're going to get a better idea of what an NHL draft list looks like, and maybe that will change everything.
But the last few years my own draft lists have been heavily influenced.
Here were the 24 A Rated Prosects by HP
HP Rank - Name - Actual Draft
Only 3 slipped below 24 in the draft. And two of those stayed in the first round.
HP gets it tight.
If all the guys I love 41-43 are rated A, and there are 30-35 A leaguers - then I better find some new fuckers to like at 41-43 - or maybe Yzerman trades them out.

Re: 2023 NHL Entry Draft
24 A rated guys gets us 2! Kinda wanna make all 3 of our 2nd round picks, but if someone we really like slips I wanna see us move up.
I think this draft is deeper than 2017.

Re: 2023 NHL Entry Draft
He has Oliver Moore at 48. I think his data is a bit off.holytoledo wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 12:30 am An interesting data driven look at the draft

Re: 2023 NHL Entry Draft
There are a lot of names that are off to what most rankings have them. Michkov at #1 over Bedard, Carlsson before Fantilly, Dvorski (who some here want the Wings to pick at 9th overall) he has in the 3rd round. Can't say this makes me feel good about drafting Dvorski in the 1st round if the data says he's a 3rd round pick.Murmansk16A wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 8:24 pmHe has Oliver Moore at 48. I guess we will have to wait and see how accurate this data projects for the prospects but i kind of hope the Wings stay away from Dvorski and maybe Moore in the first round just incase this data was right.
