2022 NHL Playoffs Thread

Post by Wizard of Corsica »

All our worst fears about Tampa Bay were realized in Game 1, the Leafs are way too hungry the Lightning are in need of retooling after this series ends in 5.

I made it through all of the Rangers Penguins game. Phenomenal drama, not necessarily the greatest game ever. The refs were correct to overturn that Ranger goal, it would have stood in the 80s but oh well. It was a good game, both these teams are paper tigers in the end.

Washington goes to Florida and gets a professional win. After that first goal the sphincters puckered. 6 staight first game 1 losses for the Preds, supposedly they were 39-0-ish when leading after 2.

I didn't watch the Colorado game but the scoreline is eye opening, of course. They are the 95 Wings to me.

My belated prediction is Carolina beats Colorado in the Finals in 4 games.

Minnesota exists to lose to the eventual Conference Champion in 6 games, so I am picking the Blues to win it all.

The Avs did this last year, too, blew out their first round opponent, and then took the first two from Vegas (I think it was), and then Vegas started to knock the Avs around, and that was that. A very interesting series would be Colorado vs. Calgary. I'm not convinced the Avs make it out of that one. The Avs game last night did not look like a playoff game; it was a track meet versus a team without its top goalie.

Fuck man, if the Oilers lose to the Kings on Mike Smith's goaltending...(What the fuck?) Doesn't Holland have to get booted?

The Rangers are the closest thing I have to a second team, due to family ties.
This year's team has got to be one of the strangest teams I've ever seen.

Poor Krazy Kenny didn’t upgrade his goalie position when he could have
Well got to play his hand out now
But yeah he might take the fall if the Kings win

Read some quotes from Wayne Gretzky today. He's picking the Hurricanes and the Blues for the Cup Final with Carolina winning The Stanley Cup.

Not really surprised at the Preds losing this badly given their starting goalie Saros is injured. Rittich had a 3.57 GAA and 0.886 S% in 17 games this season. They should have went with Connor Ingram to start the game he stopped 30 of 32 shots after Rittich allowed 5 goals on 8 shots. Rittch has a career 15.07 GAA and 0.636 S% in NHL playoffs in the two games he's played and has never lasted a full period.
