Re: Red Wings Sign Mantha to a 4-year deal

I don't think Bert got screwed, at least not badly. Salaries for this season: Larkin - 4.75 Mantha - 4.5 Bert - 3.5 That's not the end all, be all, but I don't think that's totally out of line for the impacts these guys are expected to make this season. I guess you could argue a little more should ...

Re: Red Wings Sign Mantha to a 4-year deal

Interesting term. 4 years. Yzerman is really playing his uncertainty to his advantage, if you ask me. He's getting Mantha's best 4 years left at what still seems like an OK price. Mantha is 30-31 at its end. My guess is Mantha is in his prime right now. I doubt he ever tops his points-per-game for ...

Re: Red Wings Sign Mantha to a 4-year deal

AAV is 5.7 mil Bert got screwed! That's what I was thinking. Sounds like the organization saying they'll commit to Mantha, but that Bert hasn't proved himself yet. But I think that Mantha only had one RFA year remaining and Bert had 2. 5.7 seems like a pretty fair deal. Seeing as how he hasn't crac...

Re: SG's machine learning project takes on the 2020 draft

Fuck the Arizona Coyotes and fuck the UND. They didn't seem to be overly worried about Miller's past until it became public and he was made into some sort of pariah. Once it became public, it became bad for business, and they threw him out like trash. There are no heroes in this story. Agreed. In t...

Former Toledo Walleye head coach Derek Lalonde as well. I’d love to see him considered as a replacement to Blashill.

Re: SG's machine learning project takes on the 2020 draft

I really think it’s a shame that what this kid did as a 14 year old still has this much of an impact on him. I also don’t think he’s owned it or got in front of it in anyway, so maybe he really is a shitty person still that hasn’t learned a goddamn thing from all of this. If that’s the case, fuck h...

Re: SG's machine learning project takes on the 2020 draft

This kid is from Sylvania, OH, a Toledo suburb. If the Wings has drafted him in the 7th round and said he will start his pro career with the Walleye where he must first prove himself as a model citizen before we even worry about his on ice performance, I’d be ok with it.

Re: Bertuzzi Negotiations/Arbitration Update

I like Bert's attitude. I think Yzerman likes Bert. I think he knew Bert could handle this process, maybe wanted to test/challenge him a little bit. Yzerman's a crafty guy with a lot of experience with different hockey personalities, what motivates different guys, how much different guys can handle...
